NORD Holding celebrates its 35th anniversary Prime Minister Christian Wulff to attend as guest speaker
Founded in 1969 the company is one of the oldest established private equity houses in Germany. "In what is still an emerging and sometimes turbulent market we are pleased to be able to send out a signal of continuity and dependability", stated Matthias Kues, the speaker of the management team today in Hanover.
NORD Holding's core business includes:
- The structuring and financing of company succession profiles
- Expansion stage funding for high end medium sized businesses also as a silent partner
- The spin-off of medium sized business units from corporations
NORD Holding was founded 35 years ago as a 100% subsidiary of the Norddeutsche Landesbank. Up until the end of the 80s it was mainly responsible for providing medium-sized partners with mezzanine capital in the form of a silent partnership. In 1993 the shareholder group was expanded to include the Bremer Landesbank, 6 savings banks in Lower Saxony (Hanover, Osnabrück, Göttingen, Hildesheim, Celle, Goslar) together with the Versicherungsgruppe Hannover (VGH) and the Öffentliche Verischerung in Braunschweig. Since then NORD Holding has also been active as a direct shareholder through to the transfer of majority shareholdings particularly in the case of company disposals for reasons of age.
More recently spin-offs of medium sized business units from large corporations have played a greater role. "Frequently these subsidiaries no longer fit the core business profile and should be sold. We purchase these companies together with the management team. In this way managers become entrepreneurs", Matthias Kues explained their business principle.
Currently NORD Holding has investments totalling 180 mio. Euro in just over 50 companies. Its most recent acquisition was the Transnorm Group based in Harsum near Hildesheim that NORD Holding acquired from the Swiss Swisslog Group together with an international management team.
More than 200 business leaders and representatives from public life are expected to attend the anniversary celebration. The most prominent guest will be the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony, Christian Wulff. Dr. Hannes Rehm the new chairman of the board at NORD/LB has also announced that he will attend as well as his deputy, Dr. Hans Vieregge, who for many years has headed up the supervisory board.
